Where it fits
Neck length is the whole story with a PAR30. The face is the same 3.75 in on both types, but the short neck sits 3.6 in deep and the long neck 4.72 in. In a shallow can the short neck lands flush with the ceiling. Put a long neck there and it hangs below the trim. Six in a box covers a typical room of cans.
Check before you buy
- Your old bulb is about 3.6 in from face to base tip.
- The can is a 5 in recessed can or a track head sized for PAR30.
- The label inside the can allows the wattage you pick.

Pick another one if
The reverse mistake costs light. A short neck in a deep can sits far up inside, and the trim cuts off part of the beam. If your old bulb measured closer to 4.7 in, buy the long neck. A 75 watt halogen also throws real heat, so stay within the wattage on the can's label.
What buyers say about the PAR30 Short Neck Halogen Flood Bulb, 120V E26
4.2 out of 5 from 120 ratings. Reviews word for word, with the critical ones left in.
Nice warm natural lighting
I hate LED lights and you can't get incandescent flood bulbs anymore so I was very grateful to find these halogen replacement bulbs. I've got like 40 indoor recessed flood canister fixtures between two houses I own and these halogens are as good or maybe even better than the incandescent flood lamps for providing warm, realistic lighting throughout the brightness spectrum (I have dimmers for all my fixtures and these lights work seamlessly with my dimmers allowing me to get the light level just right). So glad these were available and I stocked up so that I never have to succumb to the tyranny of the God awful LED for my floodlight fixtures.
Incandescent Spotlights
These are the old school indoor spotlights that you USED to be ABLE to get at Lowe's or Home Depot, but now they are forced to sell all LED lights. They match the color and lumens of the standard lights, unlike the LED ones.
Done what was needed to be done
Used them for a food warmer... they worked amazing. Didn't last very long though. Had to replace about every 3 weeks. I've had other last months. A little on the pricy side.
Quality Bulbs
These are very difficult bulbs to find. Very happy with the quality. Have used for about six months with no burnouts.
PAR30 Short Neck Halogen Flood Bulb, 120V E26: questions
How do I tell a short neck from a long neck?
Measure the old bulb from the face to the tip of the base. About 3.6 in is a short neck. About 4.7 in is a long neck.
Will a short neck work in a 6 in can?
It will light, but it sits deep in the can and loses some spread. A long neck suits deeper cans better.
Are these bulbs dimmable?
Yes. They dim from 10 to 100 percent.
