How to choose Vinaco MR16 Bulbs

  • Check for a transformer

Landscape lights and many track kits run on 12V. If the fixture has a transformer and the bulb has two thin pins, you are in the right aisle.

  • Pick the wattage the fixture allows

20W, 35W and 50W halogen share one size. The transformer and the fixture both have limits, so add up the watts on a run.

  • Count the hours

For lights that burn all evening, the 7W LED saves the most. For a dimmed room, stay with halogen.

Vinaco MR16 Bulbs: questions

Can I replace a halogen MR16 with the Vinaco LED?

Yes, on a 12V fixture with no dimmer. The LED has the same GU5.3 pins and draws 7W. It is rated at 450 lumens, softer than the 50W halogen.

Is an MR16 the same as a GU10?

They share the 2 in reflector shape. The MR16 here has GU5.3 pins and runs on 12V. A GU10 twists into a 120V socket.
