Vinaco FAQ

Bases, voltage, dimming, wattage and checkout, answered short.

Where do I buy Vinaco products?

Each product page has a button that takes you to our retail partner. You check out there. Payment, delivery and returns happen with the partner, and the price at checkout is the one that counts.

How do I know which base my bulb has?

Look at the bottom of the old bulb. A screw thread is E26, E12 or E11 by width. Two short pins with feet are GU10. Two straight pins are GU5.3, G8 or G4 by spacing. Two wire loops are G9. The bulb finder shows them all.

Is my fixture 12V or 120V?

A fixture fed by a transformer is 12V. Path lights and some track kits work this way and take GU5.3 or G4 bulbs. Everything else in a house is 120V.

Which Vinaco bulbs can I dim?

Every Vinaco halogen bulb dims. Among the LEDs, the filament bulbs, globes, CA11 and PAR38 dim. The GU10 LED, the MR16 LED and the E12 candelabra LED do not.

What wattage should I buy?

The wattage printed on the fixture, or less. The label is usually near the socket. More watts than the label allows means more heat than the fixture was built for.

Why did my halogen bulb burn out early?

The usual causes are skin oil on the glass, a loose socket or vibration. Fit halogen capsules with a cloth, and seat the bulb firmly.

What do the numbers in PAR20 or G25 mean?

They give the width in eighths of an inch. A PAR20 is 2.5 in across and a G25 is 3.15 in. The letters name the shape.

Does Vinaco sell LED versions of its halogen bulbs?

For three of them: GU10, MR16 and PAR38. The LED keeps the base and the shape. It uses far less power, and it gives off little heat.
